Lynn Nystrom Fund (LNF)

Purpose and Impact
The Lynn Nystrom Fund is a semi-annual fund in honor of Lynn Nystrom who was the longtime director of news and external relations for the Virginia Tech College of Engineering, an incredible mentor to countless students and alumni, and our own Faculty Advisor Emeritus.
Established through an initial $1,000,000 donation from the SEC over a decade, this fund was endowed as the "Lynn Nystrom Engineering Organization Fund" within the Virginia Tech Foundation.
The fund is dedicated to supporting engineering organizations and students by covering costs for conferences, competitions, and other travel-related events. Each year, the fund distributes $100,000 to ensure students can access these valuable opportunities.
To sustain this impact, the SEC actively supplements the fund’s endowed returns, ensuring it meets the annual $100,000 allocation for student and organizational support.
Please reference our list of ineligble line items. This fund does not support project materials, software, or supplies.
