Welcome to VT Engineering

First Year Students

As a first-year student, engaging with the SEC will enhance your academic and social experience at VT Engineering. Follow these steps to become an active part of our community, stay informed about key events, and connect with fellow engineering students!

Step 1: Register for the SEC Listserv

Join the SEC Listserv to stay in touch and up-to-date on all the latest Engineering Student news and developments. Here, you’ll receive updates about major events such as career fairs, social gatherings, and other important activities. This includes updates on our annual Expo, E-Week, and E-Ball!

Step 2: Create a Resume

Everyone needs a resume to showcase their skills. A resume is a great first step to showing recruiters what you've got. When you register for Expo in the next step, you wil upload this resume.

If you already have a resume, great! Review the checklist and proceed to Step 2.

Step 3: Register for the Engineering Expo Career Fair

Engineering Expo is a major event hosted by the SEC. It is a great opportunity for students of all majors and years to meet recruiters, interview, and secure jobs / internships.

Step 4: Connect with Us -- Follow SEC

Follow the SEC on InstagramLinkedIn, Twitter, or your favorite social media to stay connected and never miss an engineering opportunity.

Get Involved — SEC Committees

The Student Engineers' Council (SEC) has numerous opportunities in which to get involved with student leadership in the Virginia Tech College of Engineering. Committees are an entry point to getting directly involved with the SEC and student leadership.
